What is CGFM?
Certified Government Financial Manager® (CGFM®) is a professional certification awarded by AGA, demonstrating competency in governmental accounting, auditing, financial reporting, internal controls and budgeting at the federal, state and local levels.
CGFM is a respected credential that recognizes the specialized knowledge and experience needed to be an effective government financial manager.
Being a CGFM allows you to expand your career opportunities and distinguishes you from others in your field.
How do you became a CGFM®?
You have to agree to our Code of Ethics, you have to have the required education, you have to pass three comprehensive exams, and you have to meet the required years of professional experience.

Each year the National AGA and the local Mid Missouri Chapter of the AGA recognizes those members that have achieved the Certified Government Financial Manager® (CGFM®) designation from the AGA. This year Missouri's Governor Mike Kehoe and the City of Jefferson, Missouri, Mayor Ron Fitzwater have designated March 2025 as “Certified Government Financial Manager® Month” for the State of Missouri and the City of Jefferson, respectively.
